I’ve tried almost all of the at-home single-serve coffee machines on the market, but none of them had ever impressed me until I tried Nespresso. Admittedly, I’m a bit of a coffee snob and I think that most at-home coffee just isn’t very good. But two years ago, I was back in Chicago visiting one of my best friends for her birthday and her parents had gotten her an espresso machine. I was hooked! As soon as I got back to New York after my trip, I ordered my own Nespresso machine and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. It’s truly the best of the best! I’ve even gotten Hallie hooked on my Iced Almond Milk Lattes! Sometimes I swear she just stops by my apartment for me to make her coffee. Love ya, Hal!
Now that fall has arrived and I’m not always craving an ice-cold beverage in the morning, I just got an Aeroccino to froth milk for warm lattes! I was a little bit skeptical that almond milk wouldn’t froth that well, but it actually does. I didn’t realize this until I was reading the instructions, but you can froth cold milk with the Aeroccino, too, for your iced drinks.
I’ve been having a blast in the morning acting like a barista and trying new recipes. I think Cappuccinos are going to be my new seasonal coffee choice! I’ve also been loving trying recipes with flavored almond milk… So far I’ve tried chocolate almond milk to make a mocha and pumpkin spice almond milk (Yes, that’s a thing — I found it at Whole Foods!) to make a PSL at home. I saw peppermint mocha almond milk and a rice milk version of eggnog at the store the other day – can’t wait to experiment with those once I’m ready to get into full-on holiday mode.
I’ve talked about some of my tips for working from home before, but I try to get up and get out of the house before I come back to my desk. Whether that’s an early morning workout or simply a little walk around the neighborhood, I like to get moving before I settle in at my desk. It helps me start the day on a refreshing note since I don’t have a commute to work. The most normal thing would be to run out and grab a cup of coffee, but I honestly prefer my own Nespresso coffee over any of the coffee shops in my neighborhood. So I’ll either make my coffee and take it with me on my walk, or make my espresso and let it chill in the refrigerator while I’m gone. When I’m back, I add ice and almond milk for my latte. That’s my little trick so the ice doesn’t water down the drink — serious game-changer!
Nespresso actually just announced their partnership with George Clooney for the “Experience a cup above” campaign in the US. I loved this video of George training Danny DeVito in the art of fine taste… Too funny. But then again, I’m pretty sure I could watch George Clooney on screen all day long. 😉
I featured my Nespresso VertuoLine machine (that makes both espresso and coffee capsules!) last November and I’ve been loving it ever since. Nespresso generously sent me their latest and greatest machine, the VertuoLine Evoluo, to test out and again, it’s been love at every cup. The new machine has Centrifusion technology that finishes each cup with a silky crema. It makes it look and taste even more like boutique-coffee-shop coffee.
One of the things I miss a lot about NYC is being able to run to the Nespresso store in Soho whenever was low on capsules. But thankfully Sur La Table and Williams-Sonoma have in-store boutiques where I can pick up my sleeves of both coffee and espresso capsules! (You can also order them online!)
Are you a coffee-at-home kind of gal or do you grab your coffee on the go? And if you’ve ever tried Nespresso, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
