When it comes to work wear, nothing beats a good blazer! I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m always flying out the door. 80% of the time, at least. (But man oh man, I LIVE FOR that other 20% of the time when I feel like I actually have my shit together and am breezing through life 20 minutes ahead of schedule. Those are the days!)

While I’ve admittedly never been much of a morning person, I tend to always lose track of time, even when I’m up for hours before I need to be somewhere. Maybe time management is the real issue here? Who knows. All I can say is that I get distracted very easily and tend to attempt too many things in too little time.

Anyway! Since my mornings are usually synonymous with scrambling around, I’ve learned a few key tricks for looking put together in a few minutes flat…

1. When you’re short on time and can’t figure out what to wear, stick to one color palette. Monochromatic looks always look classic, and you can never go wrong with black and white. So chic.

2. Add a fun accessory. Whether it be a neck scarf, a headband, a cool pair of earrings, or even a bold lip, these finishing touches will instantly take your look up a notch! I mean, no one who is running late has time to add a stylish accessory, right? Trickery at it’s finest.

3. A good blazer always gives off those HBIC vibes. (Especially in an eye-catching print or cool texture!)

While they’re far from inexpensive, Veronica Beard makes some of THE BEST blazers and jackets around! If you can hunt one down on sale in your size, it’ll be worth your while. You may remember this jacket that I splurged on two years ago… I’ve gotten more use out of that jacket than I ever thought I would, x10. Their jackets tend to be so unique and fit so well that you can’t help but feel like a million bucks when you slip them on!

In terms of sizing, I do have broad shoulders for my frame so I tend to err on the side of going up a size in jackets and fitted tops. I’m wearing a size 6 in this gingham blazer, and I definitely could not have comfortably worn a smaller size. The 6 fits just right!

I won’t bother you with some cliché comment about wearing white pants after Labor Day, but this year especially, I feel like I’m extra drawn to creamy whites and neutrals for crisper and cooler temps!

These cropped wide leg chinos are currently on sale, but if you’re looking for a pair of lightly hued pants with more of a tapered fit, I love the look of this corduroy pair that’s absolutely appropriate for fall and winter wear. If corduroy is not your jam, check out this straight-legged cropped pair in bone.

I couldn’t be happier that headbands and hair accessories are back and better than ever! I love how this pearl headband adds a touch of whimsy and sophistication at the same time.
