Nuts & Berries

Jessica Sturdy shares her recipe for a winter cocktail with nuts and berries.

It’s almost the weekend, my friends! And that means it’s time for a cocktail. When I’m out, I love ordering fun cocktails off the menu (or one of my favorite martinis), but when I’m doing the bartending, I’m all about the easy cocktails that don’t take too much effort. A “Nutty Berry” is a friend’s mom’s go-to after-dinner drink and it’s become one of my favorites over the years, too. I recently picked up the three ingredients to be able to make it at home!

To be honest, I’m not usually a fan of sweet cocktails, but this one always hits the spot at the end of the night! It’s perfectly sweet (takes the place of dessert!) and you usually just need one after dinner. They don’t taste strong, but every ingredient contains alcohol soooo… there’s that. I’ve heard they’re also known by the name “Nuts & Berries,” but we’ve yet to find many bars or restaurants that know the drink with either name, so be sure to have the recipe on hand.

Nutty Berry

1.5 parts Baileys Irish Cream
1.5 parts Frangelico
1 part Chambord

*Shaken* and served over ice. That’s it!

Shaken is definitely key. We always find that we like it best after it “marinates” for a minute or two… i.e. the ice melts a little and waters it down a tiny bit.

I’ve been drinking this drink for decades now and the recipe here may be for a Nutty Berry but not the original Nuts and Berries. The original is made with equal parts Frangelico, Chambord, and cream. There is no Baileys. It lis shaken over ice and poured.
