Friday Finds || Week 36 & 37

Bows & Sequins wearing gingham pants and a navy leather Lancel Pia Bag drinking cappuccinos at Cafe de Paris in Saint Germain des Pres.

What. A. Day. It was a bit of a frazzled Friday over here, my friends. Hallie and I were supposed to be flying back to the US this morning, but as we were en route to the airport, I realized my passport was not in the pouch it was supposed to be in in my bag. (And if you know me, you know I’m insanely organized with those types of things.) Cue me freaking the eff out! I knew it wasn’t in our hotel room and after searching all of our bags, we realized I had to have left it at the last store we shopped at on Thursday afternoon when I was filling out the tax free form. But the store didn’t open until 11am and our flight was at 11:15. (CDG is about an hour from Paris, if you aren’t familiar.) After a few calls to try and figure out if I’d be able fly with just a copy of my passport, we didn’t think we’d have much luck doing so and had the taxi driver turn around and head back to Paris. If the store didn’t have it, the US consulate was open until 12:30pm so we’d have to go and figure out our (/my) options then.

Once we got back to the city, we stopped at one of our favorite bakeries (Maison Plisson) for almond croissants and cappuccinos to wait it out until 11am. (And a mimosa, if we’re being honest here.) We were ready and waiting outside of the store and THANK GOODNESS it was the same sweet woman at the store who recognized us and instantly knew what we were looking for. United couldn’t get us on a direct flight home until Sunday, so now we’re staying the weekend in Paris. There are much worse places to be ‘stuck,’ am I right? Thankfully, the hotel was able to extend our stay for two more nights and we were able to slip back into our same room we had checked out of. While I’m excited to have two extra days in my favorite city, it was a stressful morning to say the least! I’ve been kind of bummed out all day after throwing such a wrench in our plans, hearing the news about another terrorist attack in London, and having to miss my cousin’s wedding in Chicago tomorrow, but I’m trying to snap out of it and enjoy the silver lining… fall in Paris for two extra days. 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xx JRS

Here are a few of my favorite links from the last few weeks…

I’m going to need this velvet hair tie.

Obsessed with this sporty faux fur jacket!

You may remember my visit to Caneel Bay on St John in the USVI back in December of 2015. (When Hallie and I got stranded in San Juan…) Once we finally arrived, it was love at first sight with the property, the people, and the small little island of St John… I’ve been dying to go back ever since! The resort was closed when Hurricane Irma hit so there weren’t any guests on the property, but a lot of the employees and their families lost their homes in the storm. Caneel Bay has set up a support fund for the employees that live on St Thomas, St John, and in the US Virgin Islands.

Harry Potter for PB Teen… Enough said!

Gucci just launched decor… Outrageously expensive, but cool pieces none the less.
