Weekend Reading

striped off the shoulder dress summer straw hat

It was one of those weeks that felt abnormally long, but also kind of flew by.. You know what I mean? Thank goodness for the weekend! Mercury is in retrograde and I’ve been majorly feeling the effects the past two days… Happy to have a weekend with few plans so I can just chill out a bit. I’m savoring these lazy weekends before the summertime weekend frenzy begins here in a few weeks. It’s been a while since I’ve shared my favorite links so there are quite a few… Enjoy!

My friend Mackenzie introduced me to this “savings service,” so I figured I’d give it a go! One of my goals this year is to be a bit better about saving $, and this makes it happen seamlessly. I’ve been doing it for a about two-three months now… So far, so good!

A fellow blogger in Chicago recently published an awesome resource for colorful walls in Chicago. This was a godsend when I was location scouting for my spring collection shoots… A colorful backdrop is a must in order to make Chicago look “spring-y” when it’s 32 degrees in February.

Speaking of Chicago, if you’re in the Chicago area (or San Francisco or Palo Alto), you have to try Sprig. I learned of the company last summer from a flier in my building, but I never got around to trying it. (I was just kind of thinking, “Yet *another* food delivery company?!”) But one of my girlfriend recently recommended it so I gave it a go and I am OBSESSED! The menu changes daily, all of the ingredients, calories, and nutritional information are listed, and it’s always delivered hot within 30 minutes. In my opinion, it’s a faster and healthier (and cheaper!) way to get delivery in Chicago. Use code ‘STURDY2566‘ to get $10 off your first order. I use the app exclusively, but I believe you can order on the website, too. I’ve been using it for about two months now and I LOVE IT!

I love how Amy styled the tweed jacket from my spring collection!

Liz recently shared her favorite flower shops in Chicago! I still feel like such a newbie in Chicago, so I’m bookmarking this for future flower runs.

A navy scalloped dress under $50? Yes, please!

Victoria recently shared this article and it made me smile, too! I have a feeling any wine lovers out there will get a kick out of it… How Faces Change After 1, 2, and 3 Glasses of Wine

I found this video of Anna Wintour really fascinating… She explains how she got lost at Madison Square Garden in NYC when she tried to sneak out of Kanye’s fashion show. It’s fun to see the woman under the bob and behind the glasses!

If you’ve long been a fan of the Marysia scalloped swim suits (like me!) you’ll be thrilled to find this scalloped bikini set that’s only $60 (combined!) .. Find the top here and the bottoms here!

I love how my friend Anthony designed his studio apartment in the East Village in NYC, the same neighborhood I lived in for two years! It’s so functional and stylish, too. I should have had him decorate my apartments in New York! (I’ve had interiors on the mind a lot lately as I’m trying to finally finish my living room and work space in my Chicago apartment.)

Thinking about picking up these ikat bowls to display my matchbook collection on my coffee table. I collect matchbooks from the restaurants and cocktail spots I try when I’m traveling, or even exploring my own city in Chicago!

I love how Julia’s bathroom makeover turned out! It makes me long for the day I have a home and more space to decorate.

I was taking a browse through the baby clothes on Nordstrom recently (yay for expecting friends!!) and fell in love with two things… This pink and white scalloped short set and this pink and white gingham print dress with a scalloped navy collar. (!!!) I can’t handle the cuteness!

I loved this post from Carly about the not-so-glamorous truth about raising puppies. It’s a lot of work, and not-at-all just cute pictures on Instagram!

Thinking about adding these gold wire baskets to my kitchen!

How cute are these flamingo slip-ons?!

Absolutely obsessed with this straw tote with tassels… Ciao! Perfect for my first trip to Italy in July!

Also crushing all of these pom-pom totes, especially this one!

PS: Be sure to check in on Instagram on Sunday! I’ve been doing a lot of spring cleaning and I’ll be listing quite a few things for a quick little Insta-Sale… Handbags, shoes, coats, and even home decor items. I did this once before and it was pretty easy… I list the items I’m parting with on this instagram account, but I’ll post on my regular account when everything is live on Sunday!

Happy Weekend! xo
