As we discussed yesterday, summer is right around the corner! Since the unofficial start of the season is just 8 days away, it’s time to stock up on those summer style refreshers!
From wardrobe must-haves to products I don’t leave home without, here are a few products to step up your style this summer!
My must-have summer style essentials include:
Wear-with-Anything Wedges — A versatile pair of sandals makes getting ready in a flash that much easier! From sundresses, to tailored shorts, to boyfriend jeans, an espadrille wedge in a neutral palette will go with just about anything in your wardrobe. Same goes for a great piece of jewelry!
Starbucks Iced Coffee — Perfect to have on hand for when you’re on-the-go! Whether you’re running late and don’t have time to run by Starbucks, or if you’re heading to the beach for a day-trip, these new Iced Coffees are great. Picnic in the park, anyone?
I always like to keep fun hostess odds & ends on hand, too! You never know who will be in the neighborhood and pop over for a drink. Stylish straws are a bar cart necessity!
Handbag Basics — Sunscreen, hair ties, your go-to lipstick, protective, lip balm, bronzer, mascara, nail polish for touch ups on the go, etc! Whatever you prefer to pamper in a pinch! Make sure you keep this stash of beauty goodies in a cute pouch. That way, you can toss from work bag to hand bag to beach bag seamlessly!
And last but not least, I always love to keep a vase of fresh flowers in my apartment! Just a little something to brighten your day. There’s something about fresh flowers that really make a space feel more home-y. An entertaining essential!
The new line-up of bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee beverages gives you great-tasting, energizing refreshment with premium Starbucks® coffee from 100 percent arabica beans. Starbucks® Iced Coffee ready-to-drink beverages are perfect on-the-go refreshment to help you through the daily commute, the midday slump, or an exciting road trip adventure with friends. Best enjoyed chilled from the bottle, look for it at major grocery and convenience stores, available nationwide.
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, produced in collaboration with Glam and Starbucks. I received a Starbucks Iced Coffee sample to review. The opinions shared in this post are my own.
I love your blog and think you’re absolutely adorable, but it also kind of sucks seeing so many sponsored and “glam featured post”, especially when it’s on the exact same schedule as Hallie’s blog. Makes both blogs seem really inauthentic.
Hi Lauren,
Thanks so much for reading my blog and also for feeling comfortable enough to share your thoughts. Yes, Hallie and I have been chosen for two of the same campaigns recently, Marshalls and Starbucks. While these posts are “sponsored posts,” I truly believe that our content is original and unique. These clients do not give us copy or set images or anything like that to use. They simply give us a prompt and it’s up to us to interpret it. Other than the disclosure (i.e. fine print at the bottom of the post), everything is written by me. Every image collage is created by me. I also hand-pick each outfit. Hallie and I were shopping at the exact same Marshalls in New York, so while there were a few similarities between our looks, I felt we still stayed true to our own personal style.
Hearing that you think my blog is inauthentic is a hard pill to swallow, but I do really appreciate the feedback. As I pride myself on authenticity and “keeping it real” on Bows & Sequins, I only “opt in” to campaigns that truly fit with my aesthetic and lifestyle. I go to Starbucks every single day and I was honored that Starbucks chose my blog to partner with.
Thanks again for your input and for stopping by my blog! If you have any comments or questions about sponsored content on my blog, feel free to email me. [email protected]
Best,
Jessica
Thanks for the thoughtful response. I have nothing against sponsored posts and think all bloggers should be able to make money from their blogs for all the time they put into them. While it truly may be your personal style and your own thoughts, as a reader, I’ve felt sort of inundated with these kinds of posts from you. Regardless, I’ll keep reading and I know I speak for others when I say we appreciate and can see all the effort you put into this blog.
As a blogger and reader of Bows & Sequins (and lots of other blogs who are also doing a lot of the same campaigns) I do think it can feel a little repetitive to see so many blogs posting on the same and similar content on the same days. With that said I do think it’s very important to realize the time and effort bloggers put into all of their posts as well as these sponsored posts (so thanks for realizing, Lauren). I truly believe that you, Jessica, have done a great job staying true to your personal style and I can see B&S in each post. I kind of feel like bloggers are at a crossroads right now as brands are really starting to amp up their blogger partnerships so it’s harder and harder for bloggers to find the perfect blogger/brand partnership while still staying true to what they would be posting regularly.
Anyway, I think B&S has really shined during your campaigns and feel like all of your sponsored posts and outfits have been true to your style and am happy to see that! I have definitely seen other’s that haven’t felt as genuine so good job, Jess! 😉
Thanks so much, Katie! I really appreciate it. 🙂
You’re totally right. It is hard to balance, but I try my absolute hardest to stay true to my vision for this site!

This post just made me a little more excited for summer. I hadn’t heard of the Starbucks Iced Coffee drinks, thanks for sharing…I’ve been on an uber-diet and have been shying away from my beloved Iced Latte. This might be a good option for me to try out!
You’ll definitely have to try them! I’ve tried them all and each flavor is really good. There’s also a low cal one, too! http://www.starbucks.com/menu/drinks/bottled-drinks/starbucks-low-calorie-iced-coffee?foodZone=9999
They’re Real is the best. I caved and tried it even though I usually stick with drugstore mascara and now I never want to go back!
-Kodi
grey et al
It’s my absolute favorite. Ever! I hope they come out with a waterproof formula for summer though!
Ugh LOVING those wedges! And of course I’m going to have to try out the Sbucks iced coffee now 🙂

hi jessica – i love your blog! what program do you use to create your image collages? thanks!
Photoshop!
thank ya!
Jessica, I appreciate all of the hard work you put into your blog and think you’ve approached collaborations and sponsorships with grace and have stayed true to your aesthetic. Although I agree that it can become a little “blah” to see several bloggers feature similar content I’m very proud of the success you’ve found and can truly see a little bit of you in each post. Keep up the good work!
xoxo,
Chelsea & The City
Loving the wedges and I am definitely a Starbucks girl. Love their lattes and coffee frappacino’s and my son loves their kids hot chocolate.

Tooo cute!

Great post baby! I love those rubber bands I am obsessed- I buy in bulk. They look cute on your wrist plus they genuinely don’t pull at all!
I just recently discovered these types of hairbands without the metal or clasps or anything in there, and I’ve got to say they’ve been a lot gentler on my hair while still keeping everything up and in place. Definitely a good thing for summer! — SC at http://www.samanthachic.com
I totally agree! They are great 🙂
i love the blue nailpolish! what is the name of the color?
xx Stephanie (www.stephaniesstyleblog.blogspot.com)
It’s called “Not a Cloud in Sight”
Love the summer pics, those shoes are too cute. xo Heidi http://fabricandfrosting.blogspot.no/
I love this! Especially the bracelet, I’ve been looking for a more affordable option compared to the one from J.Crew. Does anyone has any suggestions?

The one above is Bauble Bar. It’s more affordable than the J.Crew version! http://bit.ly/15NvXvm
When I first found your blog I loved it!! I went back through the archives and love your style. While I understand bloggers spend lots of time on their blogs and are “compensated” for sponsored posts, the amount on this blog has started to make me stop reading. It seems that the sponsored posts outweigh the posts actually written by you…
Hi Ashley,
Thanks for stopping by! I’m sorry that you got the wrong impression. Sponsored posts are most certainly written by me.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
What I meant is that the sponsored posts give you a specific topic you may not have chosen to write about (e.g. old navy or marshals) had they not approached you. I love your blog and still read here, it just seems that sponsored posts have over shadowed non-sponsored posts. Just wanted to clarify I know your content is all yours 🙂
