When I think of spring, I can’t help but think of sorbet. Don’t tell me I’m the only one! Something about the rising temperatures and temptations of summer on the horizon put me in the most fabulous mood and leave me reaching for the brightest, most fun pieces in my wardrobe. And here you thought I was talking about my “healthy” version of ice cream. Don’t worry… I crave that, too. Instagrams to come when the warmer temps finally roll around… I’m not very good at telling myself “no“ when I walk by Mr. Softee! It was a stressful day at work, okay?!
Year after year, I keep gravitating towards the juxtaposition of mixing pastels with bright, punchy colors. When mint became all the rage a few seasons a go, pairing it with coral was a no-brainer. I tend to think of mint as a neutral that can pair with almost any color or pattern. A few of my safe selections include lavender, light pink, peach, and cobalt. But the cool color allows for more experimenting, too. Mint and leopard? Yes, please. How about navy and white polka dots? A fierce fuchsia? Or just about any stripe under the sun? Yes, yes, and YES.
Per usual, I bee-lined to the shoe department when I went shopping at Marshalls last weekend. When I saw these lady-like, pointy pumps in one of the season’s trendiest colors, I knew that they were coming home with me! While I was perusing their amazing dress selection, I found this adorable dress and I couldn’t say no! Work, lady lunches, dinner dates, drinks with the girls, brunch, weekend getaways… I mean, can you find an occasion where this dress wouldn’t be appropriate? Didn’t think so. I’ll even go out on a limb and say it would work for a casual wedding, too!
