My Fall Bucket List

Oh, the elusive season of fall. It’s never as long as we hope it will be, at least in Chicago and New York. The weather always seems to go from summer in September to quite chilly in October and full-blown snowy winter in November, and we’re lucky if we get a week or two of beautiful, crisp autumn days in between. This year seems to be different, though… I was joking about an endless summer a few months ago, but it really seemed like that was the route we were on for a while. I’m all for warm weather, but a humid 80 degrees in October (in Chicago!) was kind of pushing it. There seems to be a more permanent chill in the air these last few days (especially when the sun goes down!) so we’ll see what happens…

If I’m being honest, I’m so nervous we’re going to hop right down to winter here in a few weeks, which is going to feel like a complete culture shock. So I’ve made a bucket list for the season to make sure I get my fix before the chill really sets in!

Here’s what I want to do…

Go to a haunted house! (Any recommendations in Chicago?? I’m a total chicken when it comes to these things, so not *too* scary, please.)

ย โœ”๏ธGo apple picking! (We went to Lemon Creek in Michigan a few weeks ago.)

Find apple cider donuts! (Know of anywhere good, preferably in the city?! Bummed Lemon Creek didn’t have these.)

Go to a pumpkin patch!ย (Again, recommendations welcome!)

Carve a pumpkin!

Eat pumpkin pie! (Quite a few times, preferably. It’s my favorite! Maybe I’ll even try my hand at making one?!)

Decorate my apartment with a few fall accents!

Eat some pumpkin-flavored treats … A cupcake, a donut, ice cream, all of the above! Calories don’t count when they’re on a to-do list, right?

Enjoy a hot apple cider!

Go to Green City Market once more before it heads indoors for the winter! (Oct 28 is the last one in Lincoln Park, FYI!)

Go down to Champaign for an Illinois football game! 🏈

Light a few fall candles! Some of my favorites below…

It’s felt like summer still in Cincinnati, then this morning it was in the 30s! At this point, I’m worried we’re going to miss fall, too. Loving all the pumpkin-centric bucket list items!
