May always marks the start of dress season for me! I tend to base my outfits around a lot of denim in the colder months, but dresses are my jam when the weather allows.ย I love to live in little white dresses all summer long, but I’ll admit – theyย aren’t as versatile when you aren’t the bride-to-be! They’re pretty much off limits for bridal showers and weddings, but there are still plenty of appropriate occasions to style your LWD… Baby showers, Easter, Mother’s Day, 4th of July, fancy brunches, vacations, and Derby Day, too!
Vineyard Vines is my go-to destination when I’m shopping for my Derby Day outfit! I’ve never actually gone to the Kentucky Derby (it’s on my bucket list!), but I always find a place to sip on mint juleps and wear a fancy hat. 👒
I’m headed back to New York this weekend for a friend’s going away party, to meet another friend’s baby, have a few meetings, and to spend some QT with Lauren! The Derby is Saturday afternoon so this might be the first year where I’m not dressing up in my preppiest duds, but I’m going to pack this LWD dress just in case weย end up at a last minute party.
It’s been pretty rainy and gross in Chicago lately (or so I hear, I thankfully missed the bad weather while I was in Europe!),ย but at least those pesky April showers bring some bright blooms! It’s been so refreshing to see some color on the trees and along the sidewalk these past few weeks. 🌸🌸🌸
