Man, oh man. It’s been a week! How is it only Thursday?! Counting down until the weekend, that’s for sure. (I feel like I could say the same thing about 2016 in general, but I digress…) On Tuesday, it felt like Thursday, and yesterday it felt like Friday. Somehow still feels like Friday today and we’ve still got two more days to go. Godspeed, you guys! Are you already off from work for the holidays? I feel like a lot of people are heading out for the holidays today. Safe travels if you are! I’ll be working Friday morning and making my way home for a few days on Friday afternoon.
I don’t know how or when it happened, but I’d say I’m definitely in the fitness fanatic camp at this point. And especially when things tend to get stressful and hectic around the holidays, workouts are the only thing that help me to blow off steam. They’re the little bit of time that I devote solely to myself everyday… And I’ve really come to look forward to them! I like to switch it up with the workouts… I’m always trying new classes and gym workouts and seeing what my body responds to the best. I’ve learned to give my body a day of rest most weeks, but I truly don’t feel like myself when I skip a day of exercise. (PS: I have a gift guide for the fitness fanatic from a previous year here!)
I’ve been in major planning mode for 2017 and looking forward to all that’s to come this next year, both personally and professionally here on the blog! I’ve been trying to think of fun new ways to bring more fitness content to the site, rather than just the clothes I wear to work out. I have a few ideas brewing around, but is there anything in particular that you guys would like to see? Fitness is such a big part of my day-to-day life, so I feel like it only makes sense to find a good way to incorporate it more on the blog, too!

I know I’ve mentioned this (probably too many times), but it’s been frigid in Chicago the past week or two. My excuses have really been put to the test when it comes to getting outside or making myself go to the gym or a fitness class. As much as I love getting my sweat on, it can still be a challenge to find motivation, on dreary winter days especially!
I popped in to lululemon last week and picked up some cold-weather necessities that make bundling up a little more bearable! I found a few great pieces that are great for outdoor workouts, or simply just commuting to-and-from the gym. They’re the perfect little treat to motivate yourself to start the new year on the right foot! (Or if you need some last minute gift ideas for ladies on your list, you can pop by your local store and pick something up to put under the tree over the next few days!)
I am OBSESSED with the sweatshirt I’m wearing in these photos! (Currently wearing it as I type this right now, too… 😂) If you follow me on Snapchat, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve worn it every single day since I’ve gotten it. No exaggerations! It’s this amazing stretchy material and SO WARM without being heavy or bulky. And the inside is SO SOFT. It’s the best! (It comes in a navy and dark purple, too!)
Underneath the sweatshirt, I’m wearing this cozy reversible turtleneck that I picked up! (I planned on taking a few pictures of it with the sweatshirt off, but it was a whopping ZERO DEGREES when we took these pics. NOPE!) It’s a great base layer to keep you warm this winter. I’ve been taking off my sweat-drenched workout clothes and tossing this on under my coat and/or sweatshirt to make sure I don’t get sick when I’m leaving a steamy workout. (Side note: If you don’t bring a change of clothes to leave the gym when it’s this cold, I would highly suggest it. I’m fairly certain I have world’s worst immune system and I feel like this helps to keep colds away.)
I’m not wearing it here, but I also bought this cropped turtleneck recently, too! The cropped style sounds intimidating, but it’s perfect with the high times pants. (Which, by the way, are my favorite pants in the whole wide world and the only pants I reach for anymore. I’ve collected, like, six pairs at the point.)
