Two Ways to Style a Black & Gold Jacket

The holiday season is in full swing and I’m seizing every opportunity to dress up in my sparkliest separates! I picked up this black and gold embroidered jacket at Old Navy just before Thanksgiving and it’s been one of my go-to pieces for creating festive looks for all sorts of occasions. (Parties, dinners, cocktails, or even just meetings.) It’s the perfect topper for a variety of black and gold outfits, for both the holiday season and beyond. (I think we could all use a little extra shimmer come January and February!) Here, I styled it two different ways for dressier holiday gatherings! I’ve also worn it atop a black turtleneck sweater, grey jeans, and over-the-knee boots for a casual (but jazzy!) daytime outfit.

What have you been wearing for holiday get-togethers so far this month? I’m not going to lie, most of my dressier looks have been rooted in black and gold. I keep feeling like I should try to break the mold, but hey, you know how the saying goes… If it ain’t broke! Black and gold has always been one of my favorite fancy combinations to add a little glitz and I think that was passed down from my mom at a young age. It’s one of her favorites, as well. (And if you’re been reading for a few years, you might remember that my old logo and branding was black and gold, too! #flashbackfriday)

I love how black and gold is classic and timeless, too. It’s festive and fancy and works for pretty much any holiday… Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and more!

This black velvet cami has also been a favorite find from Old Navy this month. I can’t get enough velvet lately… Shoes, bags, tops, dresses, you name it. This cami is such a versatile piece, for both day and night. (Nothing better than having a closet full of wear-with-everything separates, am I right?)  I wore it for a meeting the other day, layered over a fitted black turtleneck with skinny jeans and booties. And it obviously works perfectly layered under a chic jacket or blazer instead of your go-to black blouse!
