Iโve never been much of a pants girl. When I put my summer skirts and dresses away for the season, I tend to just opt for jeans. But when the cooler months last for about 8-9 months out of the year in Chicago, wearing denim all day, everyday tends to get a little redundant, even when Iโm switching up the cuts and washes!
Simply put, Iโve never really felt like pants fit me that well. It can be a challenge to find a pair that fits both in the waist and the hips, and even more challenging to find a pair that fits those two without being too baggy down the leg.
In an effort to make sure Iโm not taking the easy route with jeans all fall and winter long, Iโve been on a mission to find a few pairs of pants that will dress up my go-to attire for meetings and events around the city. You can never go wrong with a slim-fitting black pair of pants (if they fit well!), but I wanted to shake it up a little bit more.
I’ve partnered with Express to find the perfect dressy pant ย and couldnโt be happier! I first saw these wide-leg, flared herringbone pants and knew I wanted to try them on, but figured theyโd make me look as wide as a house. Not the case, at all! With the high-rise that cinches in the waist and the slightly wide leg that seriously elongates my frame, they couldnโt be more flattering. I canโt wait to wear them with a sleek black turtleneck when it gets cooler!
Itโs no secret that darker shades of olive and forest green are some of my favorite hues to wear all year long. So when I found these ankle-length pants in a beautiful green shade, I was crossing all of my fingers and toes that the fit would be there, too! Theyโre more of a mid-rise, but they have a little bit of stretch so they fit both my waist and hips without that dreaded baggy knee look that can be all too common.
I fell in love with this slim-fit striped Portofino shirt that I styled last month (see the post here!), and knew I needed to add another one to my closet. This rosy pink shade was too good to pass up, and I absolutely love the way it looks with olive green!

You look fab in both outfits, but my personal fave is the second option, but that’s a lot to do with my style, I’m not really one for baggy pants! ๐
