Turkey Day Duds

cute-outfit-to-wear-on-thanksgiving

When it comes to Thanksgiving Day dressing (No, not that kind of dressing, but my head is right there with you…), I’m all about stretchy denim and loose-fitting layers on top. You, too? It’s the only way, really.

I’m actually going to be in the Bahamas for Thanksgiving this year (more on that to come!), but this is the outfit that I’ll be wearing for my Friendsgiving this weekend. I’m doing the hosting (and some of the cooking!) for a few of my girlfriends and I’m actually sharing my tablescape and a recipe on the blog tomorrow, so be sure to check back in on Friday morning!

Now back to the outfit… just wait until you see the back of this turtleneck sweater, so unexpected!

I’ve always loved the rust color when it comes to clothing and we all know I love a good turtleneck! When I saw this swingy sweater in a rich fall hue, I knew it would be perfect for Thanksgiving festivities. The cutaway back gives you all of the room you need and makes such an unexpected statement from behind. It’s a great option for a casual family (or friends!) party because it takes it up a notch from a basic knit sweater. I layered a tissue-thin turtleneck underneath and added a long pendant necklace to mimic the long hemline of the sleeveless sweater. With a pair of suede pumps, you’ve got yourself an outfit that will take you from Friendsgiving to a casual Thanksgiving at your in-laws, and everywhere in between!

I am OBSESSED with your bag…I feel like I never see anyone sport a navy-toned bag like that and it looks so chic! Also, you definitely just inspired me to get out of my neutral rut a get rust-colored sweater 🙂

You are so adorable. As a sidenote, you were first blogger I ever followed. About 2 years ago around this time discovered you featured on CWonder in the quilted riding coat. Started tuning in and shortly after became hooked into the world of blogging and connecting with so many other fabulous women. Game changer! It’s given me new sense of confidence in wardrobe choices, career decisions, etc. Keep doing the great things you do and inspiring others to be their best and to be forgiving on days when they don’t feel their best.

I always go for a sweater dress and tights! It’s put-together, but still cozy and comfortable for the feast!
