It feels incredibly surreal to finally be sharing this post with you! After giving a few hints on social media over the last few weeks, I can finally share the news: I have a clothing line! (Say what?! I know, it feels so crazy to hear those words come out of my mouth. Or in this case, read those words on the screen.) Bows & Sequins will be premiering on Evine Live this coming Friday and Saturday, October 16th & 17th. (And yes, I’ll be on TV. More on that below!) The Fall 2015 collection is comprised of jackets, dresses, tops, skirts, and pants. Leopard print, plaids, gold tweed, well-placed bows, a few pops of pink, feminine ruffles, stripes, faux fur… Pretty much everything that you and I love here on the blog!
This fall collection is inspired by my annual autumn must-haves for the season. You won’t find anything too trendy with this collection… Timeless pieces that you’ll reach for year after year. They’re ageless, too! There’s a wide range of ages and lifestyles that read Bows & Sequins… Young professionals, moms, college-aged girls, grandmas, aunts, high schoolers, and each stage between. It was important to me that we didn’t alienate anyone from the collection. When designing the pieces, we kept all body types in mind, too. You’ll find each piece available in XS-3X.
I’ve been saying this for years, but picking out my outfit and getting dressed in the morning is my absolute favorite part of the day. What you’re wearing says so much about you, your personality, and how you’re feeling. Your outfit really does set the tone for the entire day! And not always in a good way… We’ve all been standing in front of our closets with “nothing to wear” and not liking what we walk out the door in. And subsequently, just feeling a little bit “blah” the entire day. Am I right?
The whole point of this blog is to make getting dressed fun and easy. I share outfit ideas for work, weekend, date night, going out, traveling, and some of my go-to tricks for when I’m not feeling inspired to put together a cute outfit. My goal has always been to inspire you with new outfit ideas that are probably already in your closet. Style isn’t about buying a new outfit for every occasion… It’s about remixing what you’ve already got and adding in versatile key pieces to maximize your wardrobe. When I post about a new dress I’ve gotten, I try to always share ideas for other ways to wear it. When I’m out shopping, clothing and accessories don’t come home with me unless I can think of multiple different ways to wear each piece. No one wants a closet full of one-hit-wonders!
No matter if you’re single, a girlfriend, a mom, a wife, a CEO, or a student, chances are you’re juggling a few too many things each and every day. Between your never-ending to-do lists, long commutes, volunteer obligations, extracurriculars, trying to stay active, taking care of pets and kids, and maintaining some sliver of a social life, you’re stretched pretty thin and don’t have the time to worry about what you’re wearing. The outfit you put on in the morning needs to be able to take you from a client meeting, lunch with your boss, an after-school event, drinks with the girls, date night, and beyond. Versatile doesn’t have to be boring, though. Of course, you can never go wrong with a black dress to take you from morning to night, but why not have a little bit more fun and feel excited about your outfit?
Here’s what you’ll find in the Bows & Sequins collection: Fun, feminine details that add some personality to polished silhouettes and versatile separates that can be worn over and over, no matter the occasion.
This project has been going on behind the scenes since last winter… February, to be exact. After keeping such a big secret for close to eight months, it begins to not even feel real, you know? But the inventory is here and the Bows & Sequins logo is sewn into the label and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you!
When it comes to my wardrobe, I try to invest in quality pieces that will last me from season to season. But when I re-wear some of my favorite pieces on the blog that I’ve had for years, it’s challenging to find a “similar product” for you to recreate the look with. There are so many pieces in my closet that I’ve kept through a cross-country move, three moves in New York City, and another cross-country move back to the midwest. If a piece of clothing makes it through a move, that’s when you know it’s a keeper. I wear and re-wear these items on my blog and frantically search for similar options to provide for you, since the originals haven’t been sold for a few years.
So when the opportunity came about with Evine Live, I dug through my closet and identified the pieces that I absolutely cannot live without in the fall. A classic over-sized plaid shirt that’s not too boxy. A wear-with-anything faux fur vest that’s slimming and doesn’t add bulk. A bright pink coat to add a pop of color on a dreary day. A classic navy coat that you can wear anywhere. A leopard jacket that makes you feel like a million bucks. A gold party skirt that’s perfect for the holiday season. A flattering, floral fit-and-flare dress. A denim jacket that you can wear all year round. A pleated skirt that you’ll want to wear over and over again. A machine-washable blouse tied with a bow at the neck. A sequin top to add a little bit of glitz under a blazer. The list goes on and on… From there, I started pin-pointing what I would change about each piece, details I would add to make each piece extra special, etc. And then came the fun part — fabric samples. I’ve hand-selected each fabric, every shade, every button, thread colors, pocket-placement, hardware color, you name it. It’s been one of the most fun and definitely one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever taken on!
The collection is available for purchase online now via Evine Live’s website. (Use code Bows&Sequins15 for 15% off your order! You can use and re-use the code as many times as you would like before Sunday. And feel free to share with anyone, the more the merrier!) I’ll be going on-air this Friday night at 8pm EST / 7pm CST and Saturday morning at 11am EST / 10am CST to launch the collection! So if you’re around, tune in! 🙂
I can’t wait to hear what you think! xo
One last little note: The sizing is generous. If you’re in-between sizes, I would definitely recommend sizing down! Shoot me an email or leave a comment below if you have any other specific sizing questions.
PS: Get excited because this isn’t a one-time thing… We’ve been hard at work perfecting next spring’s collection (it’s almost three times the size as this fall!), as well as next fall, too!
