Quirky & Quilted

The hustle and bustle of New York City is amazing. It’s invigorating, inspiring, and one of the many reasons that I love to call New York home. But don’t let all of the ‘I Heart NY’ stuff fool you, this city can be a real you-know-what. Whenever I’m feeling a little bit overwhelmed, it’s always nice to take a little trip to escape the city! I ended up having to cancel my plans to head back to Chicago this coming weekend (more on that later!) so my friend Rose and I decided to take a little day trip instead.

We headed out to Water Mill last Saturday for some good ol’ fall fun. You know how I love pumpkin everything! Although the apple cider donuts (yes, plural) were unbelievable and worth the trip themselves, Hank’s Pumpkin Town was more on the family side than we were expecting. (Think pony rides and jungle gyms.) Conveniently for us, Duck Walk Winery was just across the street. Totally unplanned, but it worked out perfectly! Good thing we opted for the jitney instead of a zip car! 😉

Since I’m a total sucker for fall foliage, I brought a change of clothes with me even though it was a day trip. I figured I could get some cute outfit photos with nature as the backdrop, instead of the usual trash cans, graffiti, and crappy cars on my street. I was lucky that I did bring a change of clothes, though! It was SO windy and dirt was just flying through the air at the pumpkin patch. After searching for the perfect pumpkin, my black jeans were disgusting and not exactly black anymore. (See the photos below.. They seriously look ombré.) I was happy to have a change of clean clothes for our wine tastings across the street!

I love New York in the fall! I’m from the Hudson Valley and I miss the Catskills during the fall foliage. I love those sweatshirts and it looks like you had a great time on your day out of the city.

This is such cuteness! I did the same thing this past weekend, and booked it out of the city. While I absolutely adore NYC, it’s SO nice to get away sometimes. 😉 Sounds like you and Rose had a blast! Loveeee the fox sweater, btw! 🙂

It’s always nice to get out of the city for a little while and hang out in the country for a change of pace. I love your pink quilted vest, so cute and bright. Hope you got some good pumpkins! And how convenient-a winery right across the street. Very nice 🙂

My original thought here was “she looks adorable!” But now three other people have already used adorable so I have to come up with another adjective. The thesaurus is giving me delectable, charming, delightful, and loveable, so I’ll go with those 🙂

I could really go for some more apple cider donuts…and some more wine. Another trip soon? Preferably somewhere with very few children 🙂

Love these layered looks! I had been eyeing that fox sweater and should’ve scooped it earlier because now it’s out of stock in my size — will have to keep an eye on restocking!

Love both looks. I think the first one is my favourite. Love the fox with the hint of pink. Yes pumpkin patches can be quite dirty. That’s why i always wear my Hunter boots. Glad you had a change of clothes.
