Cupcake Crawl

As I mentioned a few months ago, I made it my mission to try most of the pumpkin cupcakes in Manhattan this fall. Such a difficult task, I know! I made sure to document my calorie, I mean cupcake, crawl.

First up, Sprinkles!

Oh, and then again a second time. For good measure, ya know?

Next stop, Magnolia Bakery.

And then came Georgetown Cupcake.

And then I tried Crumbs

And because I miss having Molly’s down the street from my apartment in Chicago, I went to the NYC location.

And finally Baked & Wired. This one was in the Georgetown area though. Gosh, I’m such an over achiever. I personally tried majority of the Pumpkin Cupcakes on the East Coast, not just New York. Remember, I’m not doing this for myself. I did this for you.ย ๐Ÿ˜‰

So you want me to pick the best one, huh?

Not Crumbs, I’ll tell you that. I had never met a cupcake I didn’t like until I tried Crumbs. I don’t know if it’s the monster size or what, but I just don’t like them. Sue me.

I gotta tell ya, Molly’s is better in Chicago. End of story.

Magnolia is good, obvi, but not the best pumpkin cupcake I’ve consumed.

Sprinkles and I are essentially best friends. (It’s not my fault all of my office places in Chicago and New York have been within 2 blocks of Sprinkles, okay?! Give me a break.) I will NEVER turn down a Sprinkles Cupcake. Heck, I even had them at my going away party in Chicago. (Topped with bows, of course!) I feel so badly saying this, but they weren’t my favorite Pumpkin Cupcake. Sorry Sprinkles!! Don’t get mad at me and add more calories to my weekly cupcakes! I still love you.

So I don’t really know who to pick out of my top 2… Baked & Wired or Georgetown.

I loved the maple-infusion in the Georgetown Cupcake. I also like the more petite size.. Easier for eating without a fork! But Baked & Wired was the most moist cake I’ve ever had. It was phenomenal. Pumpkin in the icing, too! But the whole euro-paper-style thing was annoying. Much harder to eat!

It’s also a difficult decision to make because I’ve only had one of each from the two of these places. So until I have a few more testing opportunities, we’ll leave it at that… A tie between Georgetown Cupcake and Baked & Wired.

PS – Thank you so much for all of your bakery suggestions in New York City. I will be trying them eventually, I promise! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, and because I hadn’t had enough cupcakes this fall, I had a few of the Salted Caramel cupcakes from Sprinkles. Okay, maybe more than a few. THEY ARE THAT GOOD, PEOPLE. I’m not sure if I can wait until next fall for another…

Alright guys, that’s all for today. You can find me at the gym. xx

i completely agree with you about Crumbs – I think it is the monstrous size of the cupcake. Georgetown cupcake is amazing – good to know about Baked & Wired! can’t wait to try it next time I am in the city

Geez, I have to go walk 6 miles today just because I read this. It will be critical to block this post from my mind or I will be seen as a drooler. You know the police around here – they’d frown on me being out on the streets in that condition.
    Good job, – great post!

If you’re going up and down the east coast you should stop in Philly and try Pamcakes- they are hands down the best cupcakes I’ve ever eaten (including my own homemade ones!). I’m not in anyway affiliated with Pamcakes, just an avid fan of all her amazing flavors (spiked eggnog, chocolate peppermint for this season!).

Oh gosh – Crumbs has the best ever “chocolate chip cookie dough” cupcake – it takes me 4 days to eat it, but it’s delish! Never tried their pumpkin, but if you decide to give Crumbs another chance, go with that flavor! YUM!

Georgetown Cupcakes just opened here in Beantown! I’ll definitely have to try their pumpkin. Believe it or not, I’ve never been to Molly’s in NYC! Must add to my list!

I am 100% in agreement with you. I live in DC and my favs are Baked & Wired and Georgetown Cupcakes (I love their salted caramel). I’ve had cupcakes from the other bakeries as well. If you are ever in the Northern Virginia area again, try Cupcakes Actually in Fairfax. Their line of dipped cupcakes in ganache are to die for!
