Well, here’s the first of the take-my-own-photos-in-NYC outfit posts. I set up my tripod in my bedroom because I’m not yet ready to hit the streets of New York with the tripod in tow. Bear with me as I get used to this no photographer thing! ๐
I wore this outfit to the Lush Cosmetics Emotional Brillance preview event at the Union Square location. Lush is launching the new collection on July 20th! It’s a crazy cool concept — You spin the color wheel to get a personalized color reading. You choose the three colors that stand out the most and they will uncover certain words that reveal a little bit about your current state of mind. It was so creepily accurate. I chose charm, bubbly, and believe. A Lush employee was there to explain the color readings a little bit. The first color choice (charm, in my case) symbolizes your strength or weakness. The second color choice (bubbly) represents your subconscious need. The third choice (believe) is your talent and it is what you require to achieve your subconscious need.
So here I am at Lush… I moved to the city a week prior and I’m at an event where I don’t know a single person. Charm? Let’s hope I’ve got it. Bubbly? I was needing to be more bubbly at the current time. Hey, it can be hard when you don’t have a familiar face around! Believe? I needed to believe in myself to be more bubbly.
I’ve been wearing the Bubbly lip color daily! It’s the perfect everyday shade and the texture is great — very smooth and doesn’t dry out my lips!

Good for you taking your own photos! Hope you are loving the city so far. We should grab a blogger coffee if you ever need a photographer! ๐

Hi Rachelle! Thanks for stopping by! My necklace is from Bauble Bar. It is the “Crystal Strand Necklace” but it’s not on the website anymore. Hope this helps! xx

You are ADORABLE and I’m pretty much dying over the giant monogram in your bedroom. You don’t give yourself enough credit — when I first moved to Chicago and didn’t know a SOUL here, I don’t think I stepped out of my apartment for a month, yet alone attended a networking event alone! It’s overwhelming being in a new place, but can also be so rewarding. Enjoy every minute.
Where is your bedroom furniture from? I LOVE it!
Thanks Reina! I am working on that post as we speak… It will be up by the end of the week. (with links to everything!) ๐
Looking good, Jessie! Loving the shorts and heels! Good job on the self-portraits, no head to the street miss!
Those shorts are amazing!!!! And I’m in LOVE with your shoes ๐

I’m loving your outfit- especially your leather shorts! It was a little difficult for me when I first moved to the city last year too, but trust me, you’ll adjust and settle right in in no time! ๐
Love the leather shorts and those metallic sandals! ๐
Your top & shorts are killing me…just love them together! You are so brave moving to a place you don’t know a lot of people and starting new & fresh. Go you!

Being from Chicago (technically the Northwest suburbs), I’m super bummed my favorite Chicago blogger is now a New York blogger – but still a favorite nonetheless! Best of luck in New York, I’m looking forward to all the adventures and posts to come!
