Guest Post: Taylor from The Wearist

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed hearing from Lindsay yesterday. Today Taylor will be showing you some fabulous black on black looks! I am moving to NYC, after all. Be sure to check out Taylor’s blog, The Wearist, where she shows off her killer personal style photos!

Wearing in NYC: Black is still the new black

Hello fellow earthlings, Taylor here from The Wearist reporting live on Bows and Sequins while Jessica preps for her big move to the big apple.  When she asked me to guest post I was thrilled – and suddenly challenged with a NYC themed post. In the true, dark spirit of Jessica’s new home I chose to feature three of my favorite black ensembles. That’s right, kids. Black on black on black on black.

Wearing: Black Swan

This blackie has got to be one of my favorites, colorful outfits included. It’s swanky, it’s flirty, it’s flouncy, it’s textured. When wearing black it’s important to mix it up with texture and shapes, so a 3D floral crop top and a delicately pleated skirt is just the ticket. The booties dress it down a little.

Wearing: Black Maternity Top

You say mesh peplum-type thing, I say maternity top. It’s interesting though because while it’s flowy around the tummy, it’s also completely see through around the tummy so one must be careful before gorging on dinner. Is that a Catch 22? Despite it’s self-conflicting nature, it’s a cool top. I paired it with high waisted black jeans and shimmied on over to my best friend’s birthday dinner at my favorite restaurant The Athenian Room. The sandals are rad too, they’re Wild Pair by Bakers and have a badass/minimalist feel (and yes, they are easy to walk in).

Outfit Details // Black Top: Urban Outfitters (this one is cute too) // Black Jeans: Cheap Monday // Sandals: Wild Pair by Bakers // Clutch: Zara (old, similar here)

Wearing: Corporate Leather

Is it just me or is that not even an oxymoron anymore? Ladies and gents, leather has crept in to every piece: skirts, tops, pants, jewelry. I love this leather skirt because it pluses up an otherwise boring outfit that involves a pencil skirt. Plus, I can wear it in the workplace and sort of secretly feel like a dominatrix. The cubicle being my dungeon.

Outfit Details // Leather Pencil Skirt: Forever 21 (similar) // Black Top: Cheap Monday (old, see this one) // Shoes: Zara // Silver Necklace: H&M (old)

Loving these outfits. I’m such a huge fan of black too – although I’ve been trying to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe over the last few months. The peplum top is my fave! Will be by to check out your blog 🙂
